Re-manufactured Equipment Can Be a Money Saver

Easy on the budget, completely remanufactured presses may meet your needs. The return on investment can be excellent and comes with a same as new warranty.

If new is beyond your budget, consider rebuilding your existing equipment. Improving on outdated technology can make all the difference. For example our Panasonic PLC control system is far superior to previous control systems. All new parts on remanufactured equipment comes with the same parts warranty as a new build. Re-manufacture a Press

The process of remanufacturing a press starts with completely removing all parts from the base and head area of the press. The base and sometimes the head is then sent out for sandblasting,

We often cut out a portion of the “operator side” of the base which has numerous large holes in it. We weld in a new plate with no holes leaving less opportunities for dirt and debris (gasket centers) to get inside the base during operation. We install our new hydraulic block which contains all the hydraulic components needed. This makes a simplified clean system inside the base with less opportunities for messy leaks that create more maintenance.

The new power panel is cleanly wired, labelled, and installed on a steel plate outside the press. The press is completely rewired. Controls are all new and industrial PLC based.

Retrofit

In this example our customer had a machine designed to feed sheets of material. What he wanted to do was run rolls of material automatically, plus knock out his parts into a box (bulk packaging) To accomplish this we needed to replace the machine’s old control with our control add two roll feeds and our guided cylinder knock out system.The completed project picture is on our home page, The picture here is “in process” showing the operator screen. Our customer was able to use an existing machine and repurpose it for his current needs saving him $$$

Roller Upgrades

For many of today’s materials, especially materials like PSA with a slick backing, the older single drive rollers have trouble moving your material consistently. SDM’s 2.5” diameter double drive rolls are designed to drop into your press roller mounting. With these rollers both the top and bottom coated roller cores are tied together via a gear cluster so you have feeding power on the top and bottom of your material. The result is more accurate feed lengths.

Hydraulic Cylinder Sleeve

In this example our customer likely side loaded their machine causing the piston to drag against the cylinder wall. Likely more than once. The cylinder (head of the machine) was too damaged to overbore and install custom seals. It had to be bored much more and a sleeve was pushed in place to bring the bore back to size. In the second picture you can see the finished repair.
